11 mins ago The National Industrial Court of Nigeria has ordered the organised labour, comprising the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress not to embark on its indefinite strike scheduled to commence on November 6. Justice Sanusi Kado, on Friday, gave the order in a ruling on an ex parte application moved on behalf of the Federal Government by the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr. Dayo Apata. Agreeing with Apata, Justice Kado ruled that if the strike is allowed it would lead to huge economic loss to both public and private institutions and could jeopardise the health of many Nigerians who would not be able to access health facilities during the period. NANS threatens to occupy custom

1 hour ago  1    116    0 The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has threatened to shut down Customs Command in Ikeja, Lagos if food stuffs meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are not released. “NANS will be considering occupying the customs office on Monday, Nov. 26, to demand justice for our Diaspora Zone,’’ NANS National Public Relations Officer, Mr Bestman Okereafor, said in a statement on Saturday. Okereafor noted that the foodstuff meant for the IDPs were purchased from Iddo Rice Market in Lagos State. “And not from outside Nigeria with receipt to the effect, contrary to what should have constituted an act of smuggling which is against the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as stipulated under section 147, 148 and 158 of the Customs Excise Management Act, Cap C4 LFN, 2004,” he said. Gov lalong pays condolence visit to BURATAI

Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong Monday paid a condolence visit to Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai at the Army Headquarters in Abuja over the death of Maj Gen Idris Alkali. Alkali, who recently retired from the army had left Abuja on 3 September. His destination was Bauchi. He never reached there as as he was captured in Dura-Du, a community in Jos South local government of Plateau state, killed and his remains later thrown into an abandoned well. The army had declared him missing and intelligence tips had made a search and rescue team to focus on a mining pond in Dura-Du. After days of draining the pond, Alkali’s car and other personal effects were recovered, along with three other vehicles and a bus. But his body was not found there, making the military to step up investigation.
