Breaking: Army finds body of General Alkali

The Nigerian Army has recovered the body of the missing Gen. Idris Alkali.
The body was found in an abandoned well in Guchwet, Jos South LG, Brig. Gen. Umar Mohammed said.
The retired military officer was declared missing in September, after leaving Abuja for Bauchi.
He did not reach his destination.
Early in October, based on intelligence, soldiers drained a pond in Dura, in Jos LG, where they found the general’s car and four other vehicles.
Many arrests were made and the district head of Dura was declared wanted. He gave himself up.

Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong Monday paid a condolence visit to Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai at the Army Headquarters in Abuja over the death of Maj Gen Idris Alkali. Buhari sends Defence minister to Chad

President Muhammadu Buhari has dispatched the Minister of Defence, retired Brig-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali, to Chad for an emergency meeting with the Chadian President, Idriss Deby, on the deterioration of security at the Nigeria – Chad border. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dan-Ali had on Thursday briefed President Buhari on security development across the country. He also briefed him about the recent killings of some Nigerian soldiers by the Islamic West Africa Province, a breakaway Boko Haram sect, operating along Nigeria – Chad border. AFP reported that no fewer than 44 soldiers were killed during the attacks, which occurred at Metele, a remote village bordering Nigeria and Chad.
